Gingerbread Cookies | Recipe
dicembre 24, 2015
If you're not new round these parts, you'll probably already know that I like making cookies to give as a little Christmas gift to my school mates.
So this year I managed to make those cute gingerbread cookies, which actually had an excellent feedback.
RECIPE for 40 cookies
ingredients:
(for the dough)
- 350g flour
- 160g sugar
- 150g butter
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of cloves powder
- a dash of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 150g honey (or treacle)
- 2 teaspoons of ginger powder
(for the frosting)
- 150g icing sugar
- 1 albumen
- colourant (optional)
procedure:
In a bowl or in the mixer put the sifted flour and sugar, add the spices, baking soda and eventually the butter, which has to be cold and cut in chops.
Pour the honey and blend it in with the other ingredients until you obtain a crumbling dough.
Then add the egg and mix it all together again, giving it a spherical shape.
Wrap the dough in some cooking film and let it in the fridge for 2 hours.
When it's ready, take the ball and roll out the pastry until you get a 4 mm thickness.
Remember to preheat the oven at 180° so not to waste time.
Now it's time to cut the cookies with all the moulds you like, placing them on a tray covered with some baking paper.
Put in the oven for 10-12 minutes, and get them out when they have browned a little. Don't worry if they are still a little bit creamy since they'll stiffen later.
While you're waiting for them to cool down, prepare the glaze beating the white egg until stiff, slowly incorporating the icing sugar.
Then add some pigment if you like and pour everything in a sac à poche.
When the cookies have cooled down, dress them as you like.
And that's it!
Hope you've found this useful, let me know in the comments if you've ever made them and write me if you have any advice to improve my recipe!
Merry Christmas everyone xx

9 Places For The Best Street Food In Milan
dicembre 14, 2015
I always love exploring new little places in Milan where I can have some chatty time with my friends and mates, or just to keep in mind in case I'm around and I want a break.
Plus, what's better than snapping cute dishes pics to post on your Insta?
You get the blogger side and the hungry one at the same time - think it's a pretty good deal, isn't it?
So I thought I would make a list of a few of my favourite places I reach for when I'm looking for some street food in Milan.
Who knows, maybe you're coming during Christmas break or planning to do it soon!
1. FRUTEIRO
If you're feeling like something a little bit tropical and fresh, just to fill up your daily dose of vitamins and fibres, this is the right place to go.
It's a Brazilian juice bar based in Milan, which has lots of different fruit combinations and healthy drinks.
where: Milan, via Rivoli 2/ Milan, via Cesare Correnti 2
prices: medium target
2. GIORGIA BAKERY
A cute café that serves the best sweets in town (or maybe one of the best). If you're looking for a good old hot chocolate or some pastries, you'll love it there.
where: Milan, piazza del Rosario 1
prices: low to high
3. SALAD ME CAFE'
The best place for the healthy ones, it offers an wide range of different salads, including some very awkward combinations.
where: Milan, Corso Sempione 30
prices: medium target
4. TEMAKINHO
A cool fusion of Japanese and Brazilian cuisine, it's one of the most in vogue sushi in Milan. It's located in two of the most popular areas of the city, and you might need to book a table if you don't want to stand queuing out of the local.
where: Milan, Ripa di Porta Ticinese 32 / Corso Garibaldi 59
prices: medium to high
5. DI VIOLE DI LIQUIRIZIA
For the cutest cupcakes in town or hot chocolates in cold days, this nice little café is the right place. Chic, cozy and simple, it's mine and my friends' favourite treat.
where: Milan, via Madonnina 10
prices: medium target
6. CIOCCOLATI ITALIANI
As you may have guessed if you know Italian a little, this can sound like the perfect example of a chocolate factory which, in some way, it's true, since you can choose among a huge variety of chocolates and desserts - let me say that, you really need to give them a go.
However, they also serve lunch and it's very good too - though, you still might find some chips of chocolate in your salad!
where: Milan, Alzaia Naviglio Grande 44 / via San Raffaele 6 / via de Amicis 25 / via Torino piazza san Giorgio
prices: medium target
7. VITAMIN CHIC
Straight from LA, this juice bar is all dedicated to our body care and health. It also has a whole range of products specific for a full detox programme.
where: via Vigevano 6
prices: medium target
8. VIVA
Probably heaven for vegans and vegetarians, but also for the ones who, like me, want to feel a little bit healthier sometimes, you've got to try this one. It literally covers the whole day eating process (is that even a thing?), from juices, to salads, rice salads, pies, yogurts and even soups!
where: Milan, via Cesare Correnti 20 / Piazza di Porta Lodovica 6 / Largo della Crocetta 2
prices: medium target
9. THE BAGEL FACTORY
Maybe I'm not giving you advice about where to eat the best Italian food, but I mean, we cook Italian at home so when we go out we like to look for something else. So yes, bagels are actually American, but I do love them anyway.
I like this place because I can literally choose how I want my bagel to be, starting from the type of bread to the filling. You can have it sweet or savoury, plain or with poppy seeds, sesame, multigrain, cinnamon and raisin, chocolate chips and now I stop or the list will be endless.
where: Milan, Piazza XXIV Maggio 1/8
prices: low to medium
Quite a long post, I'll admit it, but I am very happy with how it has turned out to be.
Let me know if you've ever been to Milan and to one of these places or your personal recommendations for street food in your town!
Also, tell me if you'd like to have more posts about my city, since I was thinking about something very special.

2 Must Have Mascaras | Review & Comparison
novembre 18, 2015
You'll probably already know the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara since it has been highly rated by the most influential bloggers of the web and often compared to another all-time favourite, the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. They both give your lashes the perfect curl and lift that lasts all day, thanks to the similar curved wand.
I obviously picked up the drugstore version, which is less than half the price and does the same job.
To reach the result it promises, you have to apply it following the instructions, so first with the convex side of the wand, and then with the other.
The effect is really different from any other mascara I've ever tried, - although you can't really say it from the pic since I was running out of it - but I liked it so much that I went through five or six bottles.
The only downside is that it can be really difficult to remove, but I found a trick that works: just put some creamy cleanser on and leave it there for a few minutes. Then you can use a cotton pad as usual.
I thought it would be a permanent staple in my makeup stash, until I came across the Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara my sister was using due to her sensitive under eye skin problem. The wand is very different, totally straight, and I find it really takes all my lashes. The formula gives them a lot more length and volume, which is probably what I really need.
I can't tell you much more about it, as it's really simple to use and to remove.
They're both very good but still very different mascaras, and although I have now replaced the Maybelline bottle with the Clinique one, I suggest that you pick up the one which gives you the result you need the most.
Have you tried one of these? What's your opinion about it? Any other mascara recommendation? Tell me everything in the comments down below!

ZARA PLUSH COAT
ZARA ESSENTIALS DENIM CULOTTES
PRIMARK T-SHIRT
TOSHOP FAUX LEATHER CLEAN-CUT SATCHEL BAG
CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR
MAYBELLINE COLOR DRAMA LIPSTICK in 510 Red Essential
I'd usually end up in December with an Autumnal Outfit post saved in my drafts, but thanks God this time we're still in November and leaves have just begun turning red.
You'll probably know better than me that Autumn is the famous Idonthavetheslightestideaofwhattowear season, when you go to school freezing in your Converse and you come back sweating, ready to rock your sunglasses for what could be the last time of the year.
However, I did a little bit of shopping at the beginning of the season as you can see, and I found some interesting picks that I thought would make my choice a lot easier.
I love the grey coat, which is very lightweight but you can still cover up adding a giant scarf. Plus, the colour is neutral and goes with literally everything.
Those culottes (or wide midlenght trousers, whatever you call them) can be worn on their own or combined with a pair of long socks in the colder days. I find them so funny but at the same time, very cool.
T-shirt, sneakers, bag and you're ready to go out!
Hope you've liked this Autumnal Style inspiration post, let me know if you'd like to have more of these!

MTV EMAs 2015 Vlog

So last Sunday I got the opportunity to attend the MTV Europe Music Awards which took place in Milan because of Expo.
Meeting so many singers and celebrities has been so exciting for a fangirl like me, making it one of the best nights of my life.
Having JB one centimetre far from me, Ed Sheeran drinking right behind us and all of them performing incredibly near was simply amazing.
Don't wanna spoiler anything, so just head over to my YouTube Channel and enjoy the video!

So I'll admit it, this post has been inspired by the beautiful Victoria from InTheFrow. She posted a few pics of her trip to South Tyrol lately and I suddenly remembered I had some too from August waiting to be posted.
Yeah, you're right, this place has something magic, something I really need to share.
Those incredible, majestic, rose mountains are really hard to describe, but amazing to capture in photos.
The shoots say everything, I won't add anything else.

Elisabetta Franchi SS16 | Milan Fashion Week
ottobre 23, 2015
It's been three weeks from Milan Fashion Week and school is killing my blogging activity, but I couldn't skip this post.
I mean, I love clothes and trends but I had never been to a fashion show before, although I've always wanted to feel the catwalk vibe once in a lifetime.
This year it happened.
A friend of mine called me an evening telling me she had to invites for Elisabetta Franchi's fashion show and well, what could I say? *First thing I did was screaming around the house at midnight - mum didn't like it a lot haha*
The show was incredible: being there, in an amazing location with a ton of flashes around and all those cool dresses walking down the catwalk … It's a whole magic thing.
It's really hard to describe, but I think it was really worth it.
The collection was gorgeous, so classy and chic. It was all about camel, fringe and glitters.
I can totally say I loved it.

Purple Hair & F.A.Q.
settembre 12, 2015
If you follow me on Pinterest you'll know that I created a whole board about lavender hair, since I have been obsessed with it for a long long time. But since it's a big damage to your hair and it's also kind of difficult to take care of, I waited a long time before making my decision.
I actually wanted it lilac, but when I tried the dye I had bought previously, it turned out blue. Not what I expected. So the hairdresser showed me another colour and I went for it. Anyway, I'll save the lilac for next time.
Now, let's move onto questions.
When did the idea cross your mind?
When you read blogs and surf online a lot, it's not very difficult to come across beautiful picture of people with a crazy hair colour and I've always secretly envied them. So when a friend of mine went for a bright blue I just couldn't resist anymore and I decided to book an appointment for September, right after summer.
Did you have to bleach it before?
Yes, I did and it took me two takes plus one more on the ends to get to the right shade.
Has it damaged your hair?
As I said before, it has. In fact bleaching consists in removing all the substances contained in your hair, so that it becomes very weak. I had to bleach it twice plus one more time on the ends, so my hair is not very healthy at the moment, but I'll try to take care of it.
Well, I am almost sixteen and in my opinion, that's the right time to do that. You have all the time to let your hair grow again and it definitely won't be white yet. And if you're not happy with the colour, you can still redye it of your original shade.
Did you dyed it on your own or did you go to the salon?
I decided to go to the hairdresser to have a more professional and uniform result, but I've also dyed my friend's hair blue so many times, so I can say that it's not impossible. My advice would be to go to the salon at least the first time, while you can easily dye the roots at home, maybe with a friend's help. By doing it all at home you risk to make your hair a bit spotty.
Is it affordable?
Affordable is definitely not the right word. Everyone's budget is different, so all I can say is that it's not cheap considering also that you will need a touch up about once a month.
Doing it at home it's obviously cheaper, but very risky.
How long does it take to get it done?
That's an awful question. I stayed five hours at the salon, but you might need more if there were some complications. I know it's a lot of time but you know, sometimes having class is itchy. I promise it's worth it, that's all I can say.
Well these are all the questions i could think of, feel free to ask if you'd like to know something more in the comments!

Lake Life
agosto 24, 2015
Every summer there is a couple of weeks where I decide to knock of the lively holiday life and just relax myself in our little house at the lake.
No alarms admitted, which means I can wake up at 11 o'clock with no need to apologize.
There's just one rule: "Do whatever you like" with a little exception for some homework session because, you know, it's probably time I get my hands on it or I'll go to school empty-handed in September.
These days let me regain my strength and get ready for summer round two.
Yes, 'cause we still have A MONTH till autumn comes, right? *Talks to autumn-nostalgics*
